How Sol works
Sol pairs a learner and their caregiver together as a dyad. Both have separate, private conversations with Sol. Their responses are never shared with each other — only the research team can see both.
The process
- 1
You receive an invite
The research team sends a unique invite link to the caregiver. The caregiver signs up, completes consent, and then receives a separate invite link to pass on to their learner.
- 2
Complete consent and assent
Caregivers complete a consent form on the web app. Learners complete a shorter assent form written in plain, accessible language. Both can withdraw at any time.
- 3
Chat with Sol
Once registered, both the learner and caregiver receive instructions to start a conversation with Sol on WhatsApp or Telegram. The conversations are separate and private. Sol asks friendly, open questions about learning, strengths, and support needs.
- 4
Sol builds a draft profile
As conversations progress, Sol quietly tracks what has been covered and builds a draft learner profile. This is not a diagnosis — it is a structured summary of what the learner and caregiver have shared.
- 5
Review and approve
The learner and caregiver can log in to review their draft profiles. They can accept, edit, or remove anything before the profile is shared with the research team.
- 6
Research review
The research team reviews and compares the learner and caregiver profiles as part of the study. No information is shared externally without explicit permission.
A note on privacy
Sol conversations are stored securely and accessed only by the research team. The learner’s conversation is never automatically shared with their caregiver, and vice versa. Both must review and approve their own profile before it is used in research.
