Ethics and data

The study’s governance, stated in full. Participants told us this was the thing they cared about most, so it is not buried.

Approval

This study has received ethical approval from the University of Cambridge’s Faculty of Education Ethics Committee and is compliant with the University of Cambridge’s Data Protection Policy. All data is securely stored and will only be used for the purposes described in the consent form. Participants may withdraw at any time.

Data protection and retention

The study is compliant with GDPR and the UK’s Data Protection Act 2018. Anonymised datasets are stored securely on the University of Cambridge’s Apollo repository for a minimum of five years. Any identifiable data is deleted within six months of the study’s completion, unless otherwise required by other ethical protocols.

Personally identifying information is held on university-approved systems with encryption and role-based access. Results are reported in aggregate; no individuals or organisations are identified.

Withdrawal

Participation is voluntary throughout. Any participant may withdraw at any time, without giving a reason, by sending QUITto Sol or by contacting the researcher. On withdrawal, the participant’s data is removed from the study.

The researcher

The study is conducted by Isaac S. Lee as doctoral research at the University of Cambridge, under its own ethical approval.

Edra, Inc. is a separate company and the University is not a partner in it.
